# Account Creation

Install the Valeo app from the official Apple App Store (iOS). *(An Android version will be released in the future; currently Valeo is launching on iOS TestFlight.)* Ensure your device meets the requirements (iOS 13.0 or later, with at least \~150 MB free space for the app). Launch the app once installed.

<figure><img src="/files/VawTvtUQsM6Y9TC8qYpz" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Download the Valeo App

Install the Valeo app from the official Apple App Store (iOS). *(An Android version will be released in the future; currently Valeo is launching on iOS TestFlight.)* Ensure your device meets the requirements (iOS 13.0 or later, with at least \~150 MB free space for the app). Launch the app once installed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create an Account (Email Verification)

When you open the app, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address and create an account. Valeo uses your email for account recovery and important notifications, so use a valid email that you can access. After entering your email, the app will send a one-time 6-digit verification code to that address. Enter the code to verify your email. This step helps ensure you can recover your account if you ever lose access to your device. *(Valeo never shares your email with third parties and won’t send spam; it’s only used for essential purposes like recovery and security alerts.)*
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Wallet Generation

Once your email is verified, Valeo will automatically generate your SPL Solana wallet in-app. This involves creating a public address and a corresponding private key (secured by a 12-word recovery phrase) for you. The wallet generation is instant (a few seconds) and happens locally on your device. At this stage, Valeo does NOT take custody of your keys – they are created client-side, and you’ll be the only one holding them.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Backup Your Recovery Phrase

The app will now display your 12-word recovery phrase (sometimes called a seed phrase). Write down all 12 words in order on paper. Take your time with this step; it’s crucial for your security. After writing it, the app may ask you to confirm a couple of the words to ensure you’ve recorded it correctly. Store this paper in a safe place (as discussed in the Self-Custody section above). Confirm that you have securely stored the phrase before proceeding. *This phrase is your lifeline to recover your wallet if you lose your phone – treat it with extreme care.*
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enable Biometric Security

Next, you’ll be prompted to enable Face ID or Touch ID (depending on your device capabilities) for the Valeo app. Enabling biometrics is highly recommended for convenience and added security. With this enabled, every time you open the app or authorize a transaction, you can use your fingerprint or facial recognition instead of entering a password. (You can also set a PIN as fallback or if you prefer not to use biometrics.) This step takes only a few seconds and greatly improves the user experience and security.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Ready to Go

That’s it – your Valeo wallet is now set up! In summary, you have created an account, verified your email, generated a secure crypto wallet, backed up your keys, and secured the app with biometrics in just a couple of minutes. You should now see the Home screen showing your new wallet’s public address and a $0 balance (since you haven’t added funds yet). You are now ready to add funds and start using Valeo.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Throughout the setup, Valeo provides on-screen guidance, and the process is designed to be newbie-friendly.

> **Best Practice:** As part of initial setup, Valeo recommends you enable notifications (so you get alerts for incoming funds or unusual login attempts) and perhaps do a test transaction once you add funds. For example, after adding some money, try sending a very small amount to a friend or another of your wallets. This helps you become comfortable with the process and confirms that everything is working as expected.

# Adding Funds

Before you can make payments, you’ll need to fund your Valeo wallet with cryptocurrency. Valeo currently supports the Solana network, so you will primarily add assets like USDC (USD Coin) – a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar – or SOL (Solana’s native token) to your wallet as a starting point. <br>

<figure><img src="/files/rIOOtSFqIUVMGfnotyhn" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
There are a few ways to add money:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Receive Crypto from Another Wallet

If you already have some crypto in another wallet or exchange, you can send it to your new Valeo wallet. In the Valeo app, tap “Receive”. You will see your Valeo wallet address and a QR code. You can have the sender scan that QR code, or you can copy the address and send it to them. Once they send the funds, the Solana network will confirm the transaction in about a second, and you’ll see the funds show up in your balance. This method is great if you have a friend sending you crypto or you’re transferring from another one of your wallets. Always double-check that the currency you are receiving is supported (e.g., send SOL or Solana-program tokens like USDC/USDT; do **not** send Ethereum or Bitcoin or any other EVM tokens directly to a Solana address, as those are incompatible).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Buy on an Exchange and Withdraw

If you don’t yet own any crypto, you can purchase some USDC or SOL using a reputable cryptocurrency exchange (such as Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc.). Once you’ve bought the crypto, withdraw or send it to your Valeo wallet address. On the exchange’s withdrawal page, you’ll paste your Valeo receive address and choose the Solana network (for USDC, be sure to select the SPL/Solana version of USDC). The exchange will then transfer the coins to your Valeo wallet. Typically, exchange withdrawals on Solana take a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the exchange’s processing time. This method effectively uses the exchange as an on-ramp from fiat: you buy crypto with your bank card or account on the exchange, then move the crypto to Valeo.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Transfer from Another Solana Wallet

If you have another wallet app (for example, Phantom or Solflare browser wallets, or a hardware wallet) that holds Solana-based assets, you can send funds from there to Valeo. Since Valeo is compatible with Solana addresses, just initiate a transfer from your other wallet using your Valeo address as the destination. The transaction will usually complete in \~1 second on the network. This is similar to method 1, but specifically if you self-custody elsewhere and want to consolidate funds into Valeo for easier mobile use.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

No matter which method you choose, always start with a small amount for the first transfer into Valeo. For example, if you intend to add $500 worth of crypto, try sending just $10 first. Confirm it arrives in Valeo successfully, then proceed with the larger transfer. This approach helps avoid any mistakes with addresses or network selection.

After funds are added, your Home dashboard in the Valeo app will update to show the new balance in the respective asset (and its equivalent USD value). You can add multiple different assets as needed – Valeo will show each one in your portfolio list. With money in your wallet, you’re all set to make your first payment!

# Sending Crypto

One of Valeo’s core capabilities is allowing you to send and receive payments easily. Let’s walk through sending your first payment using the Valeo app. (We’ll assume you have some funds, e.g. SOL, in your wallet from the previous step.)

<figure><img src="/files/gMF6ejDX4qmhycpuDtIo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **Sending Crypto**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Initiate a Send

Open the Valeo app and tap the “Send” button (this might be in the bottom navigation bar with an up-arrow icon, or a prominent button on the home screen for quick actions). This will open the send transaction interface.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter Recipient

You have a couple of options here. The easiest is to tap the QR scanner icon and scan the recipient’s QR code from their app – this will automatically capture their wallet address. Alternatively, you can paste the recipient’s address if you have it (addresses you’ve copied to your clipboard might even be auto-detected by the app). Valeo will validate that the address is a proper Solana address format to help prevent errors.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select Asset and Amount

Choose which cryptocurrency you want to send (e.g. USDC, SOL, etc.) from the list of your available assets. Then enter the amount you wish to send. The app will show your available balance to help you decide. It will also prevent you from entering more than you have (and typically will factor in a tiny extra for network fee). For example, if you want to send $50 USDC, ensure you have at least $50 USDC in your balance and a small amount of SOL to cover the fee (the fee is only fractions of a penny in SOL, but the app will alert you if you lack sufficient SOL for it).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review Details

After entering the amount, proceed to review. The app will display a summary of the transaction – recipient address (often with a shortened preview like `7xKX...9fY2`), the asset and amount, and the network fee that will be charged. Take a moment to double-check all details on this screen. This is your chance to catch any mistakes (wrong address, wrong amount, etc.) before it’s final. Remember, blockchain transactions can’t be reversed, so ensure everything looks correct. Valeo’s interface might also highlight if the address is one you’ve used before or if it’s unusually new, as an extra safety precaution.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Approve and Send

When you’re satisfied with the details, confirm the transaction. Valeo will prompt you to authenticate – using Face ID / Touch ID or your PIN – to authorize the send. This security step ensures that even if someone had your phone unlocked, they couldn’t send money without biometric/PIN approval. After authentication, Valeo will broadcast the transaction to the Solana network. Within a second or two, the transaction should be picked up and confirmed by the network (you’ll typically see a confirmation status almost immediately, given Solana’s fast block time \~400ms).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirmation and Receipt

Once the network confirms the transaction (usually literally in 1 second for Solana), the app will update your balance to reflect the amount sent and subtract any fees. The transaction will appear in your **History** (often under an Activity tab), marked as sent, with details like date, amount, recipient address, fee paid, and status “Success”. You can tap the transaction in history to see more details, and from there you might even copy a transaction ID if you want to view it on a blockchain explorer for your own verification or to share with the recipient as proof.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

That’s it – you’ve sent your first crypto payment with Valeo! From initiation to final confirmation, the whole process typically takes under 30 seconds, much of that being your own time reviewing details.

# Product thesis and market opportunity

Valeo targets the structural gap between (a) crypto wallets optimised for on-chain transfers and dApp access, and (b) consumer “neobank” expectations: fast onboarding, unified views of balances, and simple spend rails. In the Solana ecosystem, wallets are positioned as a gateway to apps and services rather than passive storage, and Solana itself publicly frames wallets as programmable entry points for Web3 experiences.&#x20;

What makes the proposition investable is that Valeo is not attempting to “win on chain” (a hard, protocol-level battle), but rather to win at the mobile product layer where distribution, UX, trust, and compliance become moats:

* Activity density: one app consolidates multiple high-frequency actions (top-up, swap, send/receive, scan-to-pay, card management), which increases opportunities for monetisation per active user session.
* Payments adjacency: cards and QR-pay flows shift the product from “wallet” to “spending layer”, potentially increasing daily active usage beyond speculative trading cycles (assuming successful issuance partnerships).
* Revenue stacking: swaps (basis points take-rate), on-ramp (affiliate share), and cards (fees + interchange) are complementary, enabling blended ARPU rather than single-stream dependence.

Competitive landscape (selected incumbents and what they validate):

* Phantom positions itself as a self-custodial wallet and has expanded multi-chain support, illustrating that mass-market wallet adoption is a UX and distribution game, not only a technical one.&#x20;
* Solflare explicitly frames itself as self-custody on Solana and includes in-wallet trading/swapping, validating the baseline expectation that a Solana wallet includes exchange paths.&#x20;
* Backpack markets itself as self-custodial and multi-chain, indicating a trend towards bundled “wallet + trading” experiences.&#x20;
* Coinbase describes self-custody wallets as device-key-controlled and distinct from hosted exchange wallets, signalling mainstream regulatory and consumer framing of the custody distinction.&#x20;

Valeo’s stated differentiators relative to wallet incumbents (based on supplied dossier) are: non-custodial + multi-wallet + Solana-native, coupled with embedded neobank primitives (cards and paycodes) and an optional privacy-enhanced channel (“Private Send”). The investor question becomes whether Valeo can (i) ship those primitives with sufficient reliability and compliance, and (ii) capture revenue without undermining conversion through friction (KYC, fees, app store constraints).

Go-to-market and growth levers (analytical rationale):

* Cards as acquisition + retention hooks: physical/virtual card products can create a “membership” feel and improve retention by adding real-world utility. However, card issuance introduces the highest compliance and operational burden (see risk section).
* ValeoPay QR flows: scan-to-pay features can be used to seed network effects in merchant-lite contexts (events, creators, peer-to-peer collections). The growth lever is as much behavioural (habit formation) as technical.
* Private Send: privacy features can differentiate and attract niche power users, but also amplify AML/sanctions risk and may restrict distribution in some jurisdictions if not carefully engineered and governed (see risk section).&#x20;

# App Overview

In this section, we delve into the Valeo mobile application itself – your command center for managing digital assets with Valeo. The app is designed with a user-friendly interface and a clear navigation structure, making it easy for both newcomers and advanced users to access powerful features. We’ll explore the key parts of the app: your portfolio dashboard, sending/receiving functions, token swap capability, and the settings & notification options.

<figure><img src="/files/MeY3kYpTmMF1HuG21F2n" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **App Overview & Navigation**

When you log into Valeo, you’ll land on the Home Screen, which provides a snapshot of your financial situation at a glance. The design focuses on clarity, speed, and precision. Key information and actions are front and center:

* **Balance Overview:** The top portion of the home screen shows your total portfolio value in fiat (e.g. USD) and maybe in your primary crypto if applicable. It also might display quick stats like your 24-hour portfolio change.
* **Asset List:** Below the total, you’ll see a list of assets held in your wallet (e.g., USDC, SOL, etc.), each with its current balance and equivalent fiat value. For each asset, you might also see a small percentage indicating its share of your portfolio or its 24h change. Tapping on an asset brings you to an Asset Details page, where you can see more in-depth information like price charts and your transaction history for that specific token.
* **Quick Actions:** The home screen typically includes buttons for common actions like “Send”, “Receive”, and possibly “Swap”. These are designed for one-tap access to start a transaction or add funds.

**The app uses a bottom navigation bar (tabs) for easy movement between main sections:**

<figure><img src="/files/ZhRuJXizfmJYOml4SLTU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Home (Dashboard):** Overview of balances and quick actions (described above).
* **Activity (Transactions):** A chronological list of all your transactions (sends, receives, swaps) with filtering options. Here you can review past transactions, search or filter by type (e.g., show only “Sent” or only “Swaps”), export transaction history, etc.
* **Send:** Shortcut to the Send screen (same as tapping a Send button on Home). Represented by an upward arrow icon.
* **Receive:** Shortcut to the Receive screen (could also be integrated with the Home actions). Represented by a downward arrow icon.
* **Settings:** Access to configuration and support. Represented by a gear icon.

This intuitive layout means you’re usually one tap away from any core function. The interface is kept clean – for instance, advanced options or less-used features are tucked away in sub-menus so as not to overwhelm new users. Consistency in design ensures you quickly learn where to find what you need.

# Swapping Tokens

Valeo includes a built-in **token swap** feature, allowing you to exchange one cryptocurrency for another directly within the app. This is analogous to having an exchange at your fingertips and is extremely useful for portfolio rebalancing or reacting to market changes. Here’s how it works and why it’s beneficial:

<figure><img src="/files/GCfK3koKvZGrMlKIMWhj" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<details>

<summary><strong>How Swaps Work</strong></summary>

Suppose you hold SOL and want to convert some of it to USDC (perhaps to reduce exposure to market volatility or to have a stablecoin balance). Valeo’s swap interface would let you select the input asset (SOL) and the output asset (USDC), enter an amount, and then perform the swap. Behind the scenes, Valeo taps into a Solana decentralized exchange (DEX) or liquidity pool (such as Serum or Orca) to get the best rate. The swap executes as a single transaction on the Solana blockchain: SOL is debited from your wallet and USDC credited, all in one go. In your history, this will show up as a **“Swap”** type transaction (e.g., “Swapped SOL→USDC”)

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Instant and Low-Cost</strong></summary>

Just like sends, swaps on Solana confirm in seconds. You don’t have to deposit into an exchange or wait for confirmations back and forth. The network fee for a swap is slightly higher than a simple send but still typically just fractions of a cent or a few cents at most. There may also be a very small trading fee or slippage depending on the DEX, but Valeo will likely factor that into the quoted rate you see. In practice, it’s extremely cost-efficient to swap common tokens on Solana thanks to its high throughput and low fees.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>No Custodial Risk or Hassle</strong></summary>

With Valeo’s in-app swapping, you remain in control of your funds the entire time. You don’t have to send your tokens to a separate exchange service and trust it. The swap is non-custodial – executed via smart contract – and your new tokens arrive directly in your wallet. This eliminates risks like exchange hacks or withdrawal limits, and it’s all done within the friendly UI of Valeo.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Use Cases</strong></summary>

You might use swapping to:

* Convert received payments into your preferred stable asset. For example, if someone pays you in SOL but you prefer holding dollars, swap SOL to USDC.
* Diversify or rebalance your portfolio (e.g., if SOL has grown to 80% of your holdings, you might swap some to other assets to maintain a desired allocation).
* Acquire tokens for specific uses (maybe you need a different token to participate in a DeFi app; you can swap directly instead of acquiring elsewhere).
* Take profit or hedge: If a certain crypto has gone up in value, you might swap some of it to a stablecoin to lock in gains or reduce risk.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Investor Perspective</strong></summary>

The inclusion of a swap feature makes the Valeo app a more comprehensive financial tool. Users are more likely to keep their activity within the app (driving engagement) rather than using external exchanges. It also provides a revenue opportunity if Valeo charges a tiny spread or affiliate fee on swaps (though even if it doesn’t, it greatly enhances user experience).

</details>

# Notifications & Settings

Valeo places a strong emphasis on security and awareness, which is where notifications come in:

<details>

<summary><strong>Push Notifications</strong></summary>

* You will receive push notifications for important events, especially incoming and outgoing transactions. For example, the moment you receive funds, a notification will pop up stating “You received 50.00 USDC” (with perhaps the sender info) so you’re immediately aware. Similarly, after you send a payment, you get a confirmation notification. Notifications also cover other events like if someone logs into your account on a new device (as a security alert), or general account alerts.
* Valeo might also use notifications for price alerts or portfolio milestones if you opt-in – e.g., “Your portfolio is up 5% today” or “SOL price has dropped 10% since yesterday”. These can typically be configured.
* In iOS, Valeo may take advantage of critical alerts for security (ensuring you get them even if Do Not Disturb is on), but it will not spam you with marketing. You have control over what notifications to receive via the app settings.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Settings</strong></summary>

The Settings section (accessed via the gear icon tab) is where you can configure your app and find support:

* **Security Settings:** Here you can manage your app lock (enable/disable biometric login, change your PIN), view your recovery phrase (this is usually hidden behind multiple authentication steps for safety), and maybe set up 2FA for account recovery. You might also toggle settings like transaction signing approval (some advanced users might turn off the biometric prompt for every small transaction and rely on device lock – not recommended for most).
* **Preferences:** Choose your display currency (USD, EUR, etc.), toggle between light/dark mode, set language if multilingual, and control notification preferences (which types of alerts you want).
* **Support & About:** You’ll find links to FAQ, contact support (perhaps in-app chat or an email hotline if you need help), as well as legal documents (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy which you agreed to on sign-up) in case you need to review them. The app likely also shows the current app version and maybe an option to clear cache or reset the app (useful only in certain troubleshooting scenarios).
* **Card Management:** Once Valeo Cards are available, a subsection in Settings or a separate “Cards” tab will allow you to manage your linked debit card, see card balance (if separate), lock the card, view PIN, and so on. (For now, card features are forthcoming.)

<summary><strong>Data and Privacy</strong></summary>

In Settings -> Privacy (or in the privacy policy), Valeo likely reiterates what data is or isn’t collected. As mentioned, Valeo’s design is privacy-first: it only collects your email by default, and basic device info for security. Your transaction data on-chain is public, but Valeo does not collect, for example, your personal identity or link your transactions to you beyond what is needed for providing the service. If you opt to use a Valeo Card, you will go through a KYC process (providing legal name, ID, etc.) as required by the card issuer and regulations, but that information is handled with bank-level security and only used for compliance purposes.

**Updates:** The Settings area will also notify you if there’s an update available. Being on the latest version ensures you have the newest features and security patches. On TestFlight (for beta), updates may be frequent as new features like Cards are rolled out.

{% file src="/files/mh6UKD3su8OfZbhY9xaV" %}

# General Information

* **Network:** Solana Mainnet
* **Token Standard:** SPL Token (Solana Program Library)
* **Launch mechanism:** pump.fun
* **Contract Address (CA):** `nn944oFMxsHg9AnEuBHWxtBpGjRX3DRxx86PseuDrPJ`

####

# Utility Direction

$VALEO is positioned as an ecosystem token intended to support Valeo’s long-term network effects. The underlying product is not a meme-only project; it is a Solana-native consumer application with real wallet functionality and a growing user base.

The token is expected to play a role in:

* ecosystem alignment
* future incentives
* long-term platform participation
* Cashback for card programs
* Unlock in-app features

However, Valeo’s business model is not dependent on token speculation. The core product can generate revenue from payments, card products, and services regardless of token price action.

This is important for long-term sustainability: tokens can enhance a platform, but the platform should not require token hype to survive.

# Disclaimer & Volatility

#### 5.1 Volatility & Liquidity Risk

As a newly launched Solana token, particularly one launched via pump.fun, $VALEO can experience significant volatility.

Liquidity depth may be limited in early phases. This means:

* large buys/sells can move price materially
* spreads can be wide
* price discovery may be unstable

#### 5.2 Concentration Risk

Early-stage token launches often have concentration risks due to:

* early buyers accumulating supply
* bot activity
* sniping strategies
* uneven distribution

Investors should assume the early distribution may not be ideal until the market stabilizes and the token matures.

#### 5.3 Smart Contract & Infrastructure Risk

Even though SPL tokens are standardized, risks still exist:

* incorrect mint configuration (mint authority, freeze authority)
* compromised wallets holding allocations
* ecosystem-wide Solana congestion risks
* third-party dependency risks (DEX infrastructure, RPC providers)

# Cards Overview

# FAQ

<details>

<summary>What is Valeo?</summary>

Valeo is a self-custody cryptocurrency wallet built on the Solana blockchain. It allows you to send, receive, and manage digital assets like USDC and SOL with complete control over your funds. Unlike traditional banks or exchanges, Valeo never holds your cryptocurrency—you maintain full ownership through your private keys.

**Key features:**

* Instant global transactions (settle in \~1 second)
* Self-custody design (you own your assets)
* Passwordless login with email verification
* Biometric security (Face ID/Touch ID)
* No account fees or monthly charges
* 24/7 availability

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is Valeo safe? How are my funds protected?</summary>

Yes. Valeo uses multiple layers of security:

**Your funds are protected by:**

* **Self-custody architecture**: You hold your private keys, not Valeo. We cannot access, freeze, or seize your funds.
* **Device-level encryption**: Private keys are stored in your device's Secure Enclave and never leave your phone.
* **Biometric authentication**: Face ID/Touch ID required for all transactions.
* **Recovery phrase backup**: 12-word phrase enables wallet restoration if device is lost.
* **Blockchain security**: Solana's proof-of-stake network with 1,900+ validators.

**What you must protect:**

* Your 12-word recovery phrase (write it down, store offline)
* Your device access (strong passcode, Face ID enabled)
* Your email account (used for verification)

**Important**: Because Valeo is non-custodial, if you lose your recovery phrase, your funds are permanently inaccessible. Valeo cannot recover lost phrases.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will I need to verify my identity to get a Valeo card?</summary>

Yes. When Valeo cards launch, you'll need to complete KYC (Know Your Customer) verification to comply with financial regulations.

**What you'll need to provide:**

* Full legal name and date of birth
* Residential address with proof (utility bill or bank statement)
* Government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID)
* Selfie for identity verification

**Why KYC is required:** Card issuance is a regulated financial service. Unlike the current Valeo wallet (which is non-custodial and doesn't require KYC), cards interface with traditional banking systems and payment networks like Visa. This means we're legally required to verify your identity to prevent fraud, money laundering, and comply with financial regulations.

**Privacy note:** Your KYC information is encrypted and stored securely. We only collect what's legally required and never sell your personal data. Your cryptocurrency transactions remain pseudonymous on the blockchain—KYC only applies to card services.

The entire verification process takes about 5-10 minutes, and most applications are approved within 24-48 hours.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How will crypto-to-fiat conversion work when I use my Valeo card?</summary>

When you make a purchase with your Valeo card, your cryptocurrency is automatically converted to USD (or local currency) in real-time at the point of sale.

**The process happens instantly:** You swipe your card at a store for $50 → Valeo checks your crypto balance → Converts $50 worth of USDC to USD at current market rate → Merchant receives $50 USD → Your USDC balance decreases by $50 (plus small conversion fee if applicable) → Transaction appears in your app immediately.

**Conversion fees:**

* USDC/USDT to USD: 0% (since they're already pegged 1:1 to the dollar)
* SOL or other crypto to USD: 0.5-1% conversion fee
* No hidden markups or spreads

**Which crypto gets used first:** You'll be able to set your payment priority. By default, stablecoins (USDC/USDT) are used first since they have zero conversion fees. If you don't have enough stablecoins, the card will automatically convert from your other holdings like SOL.

The exchange rate is locked at the moment you swipe, so there's no price volatility risk during the transaction. What you see is what you pay.

<details>

<summary>How do I get my first cryptocurrency into Valeo?</summary>

There are three main ways:

**Method 1: Receive from a friend** (Easiest)

1. Tap "Receive" in Valeo
2. Show your QR code to friend
3. They scan and send USDC or SOL
4. Funds arrive in \~1 second

**Method 2: Transfer from an exchange**

1. Buy USDC or SOL on Coinbase, Kraken, or Binance
2. In Valeo, tap "Receive" and copy your address
3. Withdraw from exchange to your Valeo address
4. Wait for exchange processing (1-10 minutes)
5. Funds appear in Valeo

**Method 3: Transfer from another wallet**

1. Copy your Valeo wallet address
2. Send USDC or SOL from MetaMask, Phantom, or other Solana wallet
3. Confirm on Solana network
4. Funds arrive in \~1 second

**Important:**

* Make sure you're sending Solana-based tokens (USDC on Solana, not Ethereum)
* Test with a small amount first ($5-10)
* Save the transaction ID for tracking

**Need fiat on-ramp?** Direct bank purchases are coming in Q2 2026. For now, use an exchange to convert USD → crypto, then transfer to Valeo.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens if I lose my phone?</summary>

Your funds are safe as long as you have your 12-word recovery phrase.

**Immediate steps:**

1. Install Valeo on a new device (or use Find My iPhone to locate device)
2. Tap "Restore Wallet"
3. Enter your 12-word recovery phrase in order
4. Your wallet, balance, and transaction history restore completely
5. Set up Face ID on new device

**What gets restored:**

* ✓ Your wallet address
* ✓ All cryptocurrency balances
* ✓ Transaction history (from blockchain)
* ✓ Access to your funds

**What doesn't restore:**

* ✗ App settings and preferences
* ✗ Saved contacts (coming soon)
* ✗ Face ID (must re-enroll on new device)

**If you also lost your recovery phrase:** Unfortunately, your funds are **permanently inaccessible**. This is the nature of self-custody—no one can recover lost keys, including Valeo. This is why we emphasize:

* Write down your recovery phrase during setup
* Store it in multiple secure physical locations
* Never store it digitally (photos, cloud, email)
* Verify your backup works

</details>

<details>

<summary>What are network fees and why do I have to pay them?</summary>

Network fees (also called "gas fees") are small payments to Solana blockchain validators who process and confirm your transactions.

**Key facts:**

* **Typical cost**: $0.001 to $0.002 per transaction
* **Paid to**: Solana network validators (not Valeo)
* **Paid in**: SOL (Solana's native token)
* **Purpose**: Prevent spam, compensate validators
* **Required**: Yes, even if transaction fails

**Fee breakdown:**

| Transaction Type | Typical Fee | Fee in SOL |
| ------------------ | ----------- | ------------ |
| Send USDC          | \~$0.001    | 0.000005 SOL |
| Receive USDC       | Free        | 0 SOL        |
| Swap tokens        | \~$0.002    | 0.00001 SOL  |
| Failed transaction | \~$0.001    | 0.000005 SOL |

**Why so cheap?** Solana is one of the fastest and cheapest blockchains:

* 65,000+ transactions per second capacity
* Sub-second confirmation times
* Minimal network congestion
* Efficient proof-of-stake consensus

**Compare to other networks:**

* Bitcoin: $1-50 per transaction
* Ethereum: $5-100 per transaction
* Solana: $0.001 per transaction ✓

**Important**: You must have a small amount of SOL in your wallet to pay fees. If you only have USDC, you'll need to swap a small amount (\~$1) to SOL for transaction fees.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I reverse a transaction if I sent to the wrong address?</summary>

**No. Blockchain transactions are irreversible once confirmed.**

This is a fundamental feature of cryptocurrency, not a limitation of Valeo. Once a transaction is broadcast and confirmed on the Solana blockchain, it cannot be:

* Cancelled
* Reversed
* Refunded by Valeo
* Undone by anyone

**Why transactions are irreversible:**

* Blockchain provides immutability and finality
* No central authority to reverse transactions
* Prevents double-spending and fraud
* Ensures trustless system

**What you can do:**

**Before sending:**

1. ✓ Verify recipient address (first 6 and last 4 characters)
2. ✓ Send small test amount first to new addresses
3. ✓ Double-check amount and decimal point
4. ✓ Take your time—transactions are instant but final

**If you sent to wrong address:**

1. Contact the recipient if you know them
2. Request they return the funds voluntarily
3. If sent to your own old wallet, restore with recovery phrase
4. If sent to invalid address, funds may be lost permanently

**Protection features in Valeo:**

* Address format validation (catches typos)
* Confirmation screen before sending
* Biometric authentication requirement
* Clear transaction summary

**Recovery not possible for:**

* Wrong address (funds go to that address permanently)
* Incorrect amount (transaction executes as sent)
* Wrong blockchain (e.g., sent to Bitcoin address)

### **Cryptocurrency Risks**

Cryptocurrency involves substantial risk and is not suitable for everyone. **You may lose some or all of your invested capital.**

#### **Market Risks**

**Extreme Volatility:** Cryptocurrency prices can fluctuate dramatically within short periods. Assets can lose 50% or more of their value in days or hours. Even stablecoins designed to maintain value can experience depegging events.

**Total Loss:** Cryptocurrencies can become worthless. Projects can fail, networks can be compromised, and tokens can lose all value permanently. Never invest more than you can afford to lose completely.

**No Guarantees:** There are no guarantees of returns, price stability, or value retention. Market predictions are speculative and often wrong.

#### **Technical Risks**

**Irreversible Transactions:** Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed, cancelled, or refunded. If you send cryptocurrency to the wrong address, it is permanently lost.

**Smart Contract Risk:** Decentralized protocols and smart contracts may contain bugs, vulnerabilities, or exploits that could result in loss of funds.

**Network Failures:** Blockchain networks can experience downtime, congestion, forks, or consensus failures that may impact transaction processing or asset accessibility.

**Wallet Security:** If you lose your recovery phrase or private keys, your cryptocurrency is permanently inaccessible. No one, including Valeo, can recover lost keys.

#### **Regulatory Risks**

**Legal Uncertainty:** Cryptocurrency regulations vary by jurisdiction and are rapidly evolving. Future regulations may restrict, prohibit, or tax cryptocurrency activities in ways that negatively impact value or accessibility.

**Compliance Changes:** Regulatory changes may require us to modify services, restrict access in certain regions, or implement additional verification requirements.

**Tax Obligations:** You are responsible for determining and paying any applicable taxes on cryptocurrency transactions. Tax treatment varies by jurisdiction and transaction type.

#### **Operational Risks**

**Service Interruptions:** The App may experience downtime, maintenance periods, or technical issues that temporarily prevent access to your wallet or transaction services.

**Third-Party Dependencies:** Valeo relies on third-party services including blockchain networks, price data providers, and infrastructure providers. Failures by these parties may impact our services.

**Cybersecurity Threats:** Despite security measures, cryptocurrency services face ongoing threats from hackers, phishing attacks, malware, and other cyber threats.

***
